AN OPPORTUNITY TO QUALIFY AS A MILITARY PARACHUTIST

During the week 12th/18th April 2003, Pathfinder (UK), organises a jump week at the Island of Texel.

The course will muster on Sat 12th of April 2003 at 10.00 hrs and will end at Friday 18th. Jumpers will have to report at the DZ. during the afternoon of Saturday 12th.… The Sunday will be used for the ground training, both for novice jumpers and those in need of a refresher training.

The course includes ground training, 5 jumps, Official Dutch military ‘B’ parachutist wings (with certificate, 5 jumps needed),Pathfinder Parachute group wings and certificate Dutch civilian International jump license, use of parachute equipment and a parachute packing course.

During the course you will be taught to pack your own parachute. The parachute used in the training course is a GQ AEROCONICAL. the student here is rigging his chute at one of the packing tables. Packing means working with the parachute assembly, less the harness.

While training at Texel, you will learn how to pack the container, canopy, suspension lines, risers, and connector links. Note the red static line. These are the same type of parachutes used in training Dutch military personnel at Texel.

Basic accommodation can also be arranged. This will be from Saturday evening up to the Friday morning, breakfast and dinner included, bunkhouse accommodation (7-12 person rooms) Although there are two and four man rooms available for those that want a bit more privacy. For those interested in this accommodation, please let us know as soon as possible as this is a popular spot for the many sport skydivers who use the place. The course is ideal for the novice or experienced jump.

If the course finishes early we try to arrange a day trip to Arnhem. A visit to the Airborne Forces museum tends to put the Parachute course in perspective.

If you have jump experience, either military or civilian, we would like to know. If jump experienced, let us know the number of round canopy jumps and the total number of jumps. We would also like to know if you are in possession of a civilian jump license. If you are interested, let us know!
